There are some men that come to a point in their lives where they start to feel some anxiety about the size of their penis. For some men that anxiety could have started when they were in their teens or early adulthood. Maybe for others, it came when they began having sex.

Masters and Johnson also performed a study in 1966 and they have also determined that the average size for a man’s penis erect ranges from 5 to 7 inches as well.

At the University of California at San Francisco , researchers studied over 60 men and found that the average size of the erect penis were about 5.1 inches in length and about 4.9 inches in girth.
In Brazil, an urologist used 150 men and measured and he found that the average size erect was 5.7 inches in length and 4.7 inches in girth.

There are so many results on this subject over the years with many of these findings on record. So basically an average size is about 5 inches, more or less.

Unless your penis is under 2 inches either form birth or result of trauma or illness, you really should not consider it. There are risks to the surgery that are very significant and there are other methods that you should consider.

What you should know?

There is a growing interest in plastic surgery over the past few years. Penis enlargement has been performed since the 70’s but when the surgery was first being done, it was for men with penis size because of birth defects, trauma or illness such as Peroynie’s Disease.

In the United States, penis enlargement surgery for a length increase and thickness started in the 80’s. In that time over 10,000 American men have had a form of penis enlargement surgery but oddly enough there has not been a great amount of these results published as you would expect especially after a mew medical technique has been discovered.

You would think that these results would be published in at least a peer reviewed journal where other doctors can see what these surgeries entailed and the results. But because there is very little about these procedures, it is actually disturbing considering how many of these procedures have been done. It really makes you think?

What if it fails?

Surgeries in the United States cost anywhere from $ 3000 to $ 8000, there is no way to guarantee the success of any surgery. The information that is available to us talks about how surgeries of this nature have gone wrong and the excruciating pain and disfigurement that men have suffered for this process. The rates of success are not published of course but these horror stories are available on the web.
There are many other explanations for the last of information; the majority believes that the results do vary. The sex organs for men are very delicate and you could be the candidate for surgery and there still would be a potential for complications. The risks are very high for this type of surgery no matter how great of health that you are in or how great the surgeon is.

The cost of the additional surgeries could be taken to reconstruct the penis should anything go very wrong.

What are the alternatives?

A good thing for men is that there are alternatives. There are less committing ways to enlarge the penis. Let’s go over the less committed methods first. There are pills and extenders available to all men. Men who have erectile dysfunction do have alternative methods, there are ways via supplements and for men looking to increase size only look at traction devices.

Whatever path that you decide to take, you should make a great effort to find out everything you can about the costs and the risks. Your number one priority is safety. Make sure that you speak to a doctor and ask them to help you decide which method is best for you. If you are still thinking surgery then examine all of the risks and see if they are worth it.
